ACTING TODAY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW

What we do today has a significant impact on the eco-systems we operate in and the future we want to build for our next generation.

Collective action and collaboration are key to unlocking the scale of impact needed, so we’re focused on working with our communities to build the future of events with sustainability as an operating value. And we’re turning what used to be dreams into reality, beginning with Singapore EXPO becoming Asia’s first net zero MICE venue running on clean energy in 2024.

Here are some of our recent and ongoing sustainability efforts.

Achieving Net Zero

Singapore EXPO has committed to achieve Net Zero by 2024. We are also a signatory of the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative organised by the Joint Meetings Industry Council, committed to play our role in the global eco-system to address climate change.

The Global MICE Sustainability Alliance

We joined the Global MICE Sustainability Alliance alongside Singapore Tourism Board and other key industry players to trial green initiatives and explore new solutions for green events to reduce exhibition waste and carbon footprint. Working with SACEOS, one of our events BuildTech Asia 2023 will be piloting a waste measurement methodology to help identify waste drivers and boundaries.

Largest Single-Site Solar Panel Installation in SG

Singapore EXPO will become self-sufficient in energy generation by end-2023, as we replace conventional energy consumption with renewable energy, with the largest rooftop solar installation in Singapore.

Supporting Sustainable Travel

Supporting the country’s Net Zero emissions goal, Singapore EXPO is reinforcing its infrastructure and partnerships to support sustainable travel to the venue, including ongoing plans to develop one of the largest electric vehicle charging hubs in the eastern part of Singapore.

Supporting Sustainable Farming & Food Wastage Reduction

Our culinary team at Singapore EXPO adopts a farm-to-table approach, working alongside farms with sustainable practices to source for the freshest ingredients to reduce carbon footprint from its farming and transportation. We also work with our F&B partners to manage food waste, and will soon be implementing urban farming on the rooftop of our convention wing in 2023.

Upskilling for Sustainability Reporting

Our convention wing is BCA Green Mark Platinum certified and we are looking to achieve Platinum status for our 10 exhibition halls by 2023. As we work towards developing a framework for sustainability reporting by 2025, we're also strengthening our employees' skills and education for compliance to standards and measurements.
